Dr. Kruipen's team uncovers the flash-frozen remains of a prehistoric woolly mammoth revealed by the melting permafrost. However, the melting ice releases something far more dangerous than historical data: a dormant, prehistoric parasite. The Nightmare Begins
As the parasites infect and incubate inside the small team of scientists, a new group arrives, including Kruipen's estranged daughter, Evelyn (Martha MacIsaac), and four ecology students. They find the station in disarray and are quickly thrust into a fight for survival. Trapped in the icy wasteland, they must decide how to stop the new, highly infectious hosts from escaping and triggering the very global pandemic we saw at the film's start.
Directed by Mark A. Lewis, The Thaw is an eerie, claustrophobic survival horror film heavily inspired by real-world environmental anxieties.
