Initially, the film presents a heartbreaking portrait of a woman suffering from dementia. However, as the cameras roll, Deborah begins to exhibit behavior that defies medical explanation. She displays sudden bursts of superhuman strength, speaks in foreign languages she never learned (notably French), and performs disturbing rituals, such as attempting to eat a raw bird.
