Instead of drowning, Jeetu is rescued by two bumbling fishermen, (Paresh Rawal) and Bandya (Rajpal Yadav). Due to a series of misunderstandings, Jeetu pretends to be deaf and mute. He is soon pawned off to work at the mansion of a wealthy Gujarati businessman, Prabhat Singh Chauhan (Om Puri). Complications deepen when Jeetu falls in love with Prabhat's mute niece, Shruti (Kareena Kapoor), while desperately trying to keep his multi-layered deception from unraveling.
