Sunil Kohli (Rajesh Khanna) is a farmer who falls in love with and marries Sonia (Sharmila Tagore). Their happiness is short-lived when Sunil is wrongly accused of murder, sentenced to prison, and presumed dead after a vehicle crash. Years later, Sunil resurfaces, but to protect his loved ones, he must start a new life under a new name, causing massive emotional turbulence.
