The 2011 film is a genre-bending horror-comedy that deconstructs classic horror tropes. It follows five college friends who travel to a remote cabin for a weekend getaway, only to find themselves part of a ritualistic experiment orchestrated by a secret underground facility.

While the students fight for their lives upstairs against a family of "Zombie Redneck Torture Bastards," technicians Gary Sitterson (Richard Jenkins) and Steve Hadley (Bradley Whitford) manipulate the environment from a high-tech control room.
