Media servers can get confused by excess "junk" data inside an MKV. If you rip a Blu-ray or DVD, the resulting MKV file may contain dozens of subtitle and audio tracks in many languages. This clutters your server's index and can lead to wrong default audio tracks playing. Use the tools described above (specifically mkvmerge GUI) to strip out unwanted streams before adding the file to your media server's library. A clean file leads to a clean, efficient index.
